I don't know what I'm looking for
Vesper’s gaze lingers on the sea, watching the light stretch long across the water like it’s trying to delay the inevitable fall of night. It’s lazy and golden and warm—too fucking pretty for the kind of things they’ve just done, but he likes the contradiction. Likes the feel of Thal’s voice still thick in the air, hoarse and rough with pleasure, her smile like a blade half-sheathed in charm.
Her lean into his touch doesn’t go unnoticed.
He doesn’t press, doesn’t call attention to it, just lets the soft drag of his fingers settle one last time at her jaw before his hand falls away. The curve of her lips pulls a faint laugh from him, low and rasped. "I do?" he murmurs. He hadn’t been sure at first if she’d just been passing through Levinsward, like him—but now that she’s said it, he tucks the detail away for later. A quiet little file labeled reasons to show up unannounced.
"Could be dangerous," he adds, tone casual as the tide lapping at their feet. "Me knowing where you live." But the glance he casts her way is unmistakable—heat tucked behind it, yes, but something else too. That same sharpened curiosity that first brought him to her. Like he’s still figuring her out, and maybe plans to keep doing it for a while.
He stretches out on the sand beside her, one arm bent behind his head, the other tracing idle patterns in the sand near her shoulder. "You gonna make it back tonight? Or am I gonna have to carry you to your ship?" A teasing glance. "Could toss you over my shoulder. Parade you through the docks. Let 'em see the kind of trouble I get into on my days off." His smirk turns faintly wicked. "I do live nearby. Near'er than you do, anyway."
