Elizabeth listened, wondering how much good Maea couldn't see in her own past, or if she really had made so many mistakes that she was an unreliable narrator. That was certainly something to be investigated later, but for the moment, she tilted her head to gather her thoughts. "'Trusting yourself' doesn't mean that you won't make mistakes. It doesn't mean that things will always work out. It means trusting in your morals and beliefs and experiences to guide your decisions." There were a million different opinions on how things should be done, and a million different ways on how things would work out.

If you felt compelled to do or say something, then it shouldn't matter how things turned out, because you did what you thought was right. It's about having confidence in your own motivations and moral compass, to stand by what you believe in and why it led to your choices." It was easier said than done, but Maea would always doubt herself if she couldn't trust in her own ideals.
