His attention returns to her, and when he speaks again, it’s quieter—still casual, but with a thread of sincerity undercutting the sarcasm. "I don’t know the first thing about birthing unicorns," he offers, though he doubts if she thought he did. "But I’m not exactly busy, either. If all you need’s an extra pair of eyes and someone who ain't gonna flinch at the sight of blood or fluids, well..." He shrugs.
"Name’s Vesper, by the way," he adds, tone dry again. "Figure if I’m going to get kicked by a mare tonight, we should at least be on a first name basis."
