Humming her agreement, Maea thought so too. It would take a while for the new perspectives and practices to sink in, but already she didn't feel as hopeless about herself as she had been. Even if all that came of this conversation was a bit of grace in the face of future mistakes - and when facing the consequences of old ones - it would be a step in the right direction.

The conversation dissolved into lighthearted banter, dinner plans and catching up on events between their last visit and now.
