His fighter’s reflexes saved him as he twisted his weight, feet skidding into a quick half-step that drew only a gasp from the worker. Flora was more agile, but she was also in front, weaving and dodging with purpose. He was trying to read the tells in the sway of her curls, half a beat behind, the chaos like euphoria as he laughed in her wake. There was no start, no finish, no yesterday or tomorrow. Just tonight.
