Whatever intimacy she felt for that briefest of moments, was different for him. It was the slow compression of his ribcage under her weight, the rolling of muscles being used as footholds as if he were a jungle gym. Nothing terrible, she was lithe after all, but there was little grace about it and each pull and shove, however delicate she tried, was a groan held back behind his teeth. At least it made the knee hurt less, focused instead on the glittering ghoul crawling over him.
There was one instance, when her hand splayed against his shoulder, and he looked up and saw the shape of her throat passing above him, it occurred to him how very little it would take to make her pause. No desire to do so possessed him though, and in response pushed her along faster with a knee against the trail of her legs. He gave a stuttering laugh, trying to get his breath back, as he flopped over onto his stomach on the bench. "I gotta get me one of those," he muttered as her ring bloomed comfortingly against him again. "Although I don't really think jewelry is my style."
He hoisted his legs around and popped up next to her, all of the fog cleared as they moved, ice cream the only kind of cream on his mind.
