The coldest blood runs through my veins
Her fist plowed through the spot where Thalassa had been, and before Maea could recover, a blow to her side sent her staggering, air squeezed out of her lungs by a blinding agony that turned her legs to jelly. Unable to think or see properly, she tumbled around snapped a hand out, grabbing for Thalassa's tail to prevent her from vanishing again.
"Are you trying to kill me?" she gasped, fangs flashing as she tried to rally enough to drive a fist into the captain's gut. "If you want me to leave you alone, just say it." Maea wanted the friendship, but she wouldn't force her presence down Thal's throat. That kidney punch could kill if it hit hard enough - and for the first time Maea questioned whether a fight like this would ever solve anything. If Thal was that willing to cripple her... had Maea been right to take her threats seriously, after all?
