the crush
The Mirewyrm struck again.
From deep below, a thud reverberated through the stone like a buried heartbeat. The tunnel shuddered, cracks threatening to blossom across the ceiling, the walls, the ground beneath their boots. ButSah was ready. With a snarl of determination and hands pressed to the stone, he poured his magic into the earth—not just to hold, but to reshape. The tunnel narrowed with a groan of shifting rock, stone folding inward like a clenched jaw. Eight feet became six. Then five.
Dust rained from above, but nothing gave way.
The wyrm could rage all it wanted. It wasn’t getting in. Not yet.
Behind them, Jack ’s second blade of air magic sliced through the clinging void-webbing with a hiss. The strands peeled away in jagged curls, and Noah moved. Freed at last, the Forsaken surged forward with a breathless rush of fury and panic—his claws still extended, muscles burning, breath wild in his lungs.
Then came the ripple.
Hadama felt it first—the tearing edge of unreality just before it snapped. The Webvex blinked into existence mid-lunge, limbs splayed across the tunnel walls like a hideous marionette. It aimed straight for Noah again, eyes flaring in unison.
But the Tidebreaker was faster.
Four gravity spikes punched through the tunnel like falling stars—precise, brutal, righteous. The first struck its shoulder, sending one leg lurching sideways. The second caught its carapace, cracking translucent plating with a sickening pop. The third and fourth hammered the thorax and spinneret, splintering bone-slick limbs and throwing the creature askew.
Its webbing fired—wild, uncontrolled—and missed Noah by a breath, the bolt slamming into the tunnel wall instead, fizzling harmlessly against stone.
Then the Webvex vanished again, leaving behind only the hiss of its injury and the stink of burnt voidflesh.
Silence crept in once more—but not safety.
The tunnel held.
The wyrm waited.
The spider still watched.

Mirewyrm (Rare): The Mirewyrm is a colossal void entity, vaguely serpentine and dragonlike, that tunnels through stone as though the rock were liquid. Its body is plated in black, semi-metallic scales that shimmer with deep-space reflections, constantly shifting and rearranging like something unfinished. It has no eyes, and its mouth opens sideways in a jagged, spiral maw—a gateway rather than a mouth, lined not with teeth, but with coiling tendrils of voidlight and gravity.
Webvex (Rare): A massive, void-corrupted spider that stalks The Crush, the Webvex is an ethereal predator capable of phasing in and out of reality. Its translucent, oil-slick body pulses with alien constellations, and its many limbs jitter with unnatural, twitching grace. Where a face should be is a single, spiralling maw that consumes sound, memory, and reason. It spins crystalline void-webs that cling to magic, thought, and flesh alike.
