His scuffles with Murphy or actual fights out in the streets of Torchline are a lot different to this, granted, and given their focus on teaching Nova how to punch and not be punched in return, he lets it go for now.

Raising his eyebrows, not just at the way her mind coalesces and spins through scenarios and solutions, but at the ice that coats her fist and begins to creep and extend outwards, Jack flashes a wolfish grin. "Exactly like that," he agrees with a nod. "That's my element of choice in close quarters as well." His element of choice in most situations, truthfully, unless he's pushed.

Pushing back with his own magic, they're briefly caught in a tug of war of extending and receding ice, before Jack finally gains just enough ground to let her fist go and drop his hand. "I'd say you got the basics down. Just need a few years of practice now," he quips, knowing already that Nova will hate the sound of that.
