But Hadama had fought in the upper tunnels of Starfall against the Mirewyrm once already alongside some of Caido's strongest, and they had been unable to kill the guardian. He had hunted for Roses and Lillies for a year, and in all that time he had only found one.
Though he, too, had used a Rose to cure rather than carve.

He returned his gaze to the young demigod and inclined his head in respect. "Thank you. It is worth considering further." But he had not missed the deflection from his initial question, and he held Vesper's eyes with steady calm. "Have you decided your own path in this conflict?"
