'Cause she's a cruel mistress
And a bargain must be made
And a bargain must be made
Liam tried not to be distracted by the dragon zipping this way and that, bringing his bonded more ammunition - but it was hard, when the sun filtering through the trees above sparkled on his golden scales. With each flare of light, Liam found himself glancing towards its source before cursing himself and refocusing on the task at hand. He thought, perhaps, that he was nearing his limit. His movements were slowing, his breath coming quicker; he shook his head, trying to get rid of the sweat dripping into his eyes.
Zavien's words were a welcome distraction. Liam understood what the other man meant - it was why the ex-dragoon fought with a sword, as well. As for whether or not he knew someone named Tal, Liam wracked his brain and came up empty. "I'm not sure," he admitted. "It doesn't ring a bell, but that doesn't mean I haven't met him at some point." (He has, once - but didn't recognize the nickname.)
Finally, drawing a breath and dodging out of the way of a final pinecone, Liam paused, setting the rock down and stretching out his back. "Maybe a breather would be nice," he said with a laugh.

But oh, my love, don't forget me
When I let the water take me
When I let the water take me
Liam
