Noah growled for Zavien and Lena to get out, but they were already in action ushering others to safety. He would have stayed between them and the static that was Vox, but the glint of a fiery projectile caught his attention — its target just where Deimos had been. The hunter, with keen eyes and an instinct deeper and more powerful than he could explain, caught sight of the ancient in the water.
Rage pooled through his belly and through his limbs as he closed the distance to her, devouring the space like it was nothing, before he came down on her. He didn’t have his magic to press the breath from her lungs and make her regret any glance she had ever glanced in Deimos’ direction, but as he came upon her now he was a force to be reckoned with—boot aiming square for her face.
No one messed with Noah’s family.
