The warmth of her, the grounding comfort she always seems to carry, eases something that’s been coiled in his chest since the beach. I slipped into old habits—fighting instead of protecting." His fingers tighten briefly around the handle of the basket, then loosen again with a breath. "But he’s alright. And Ronin was able to get some of Pierce’s blood on his axe. He gave it to Sunjata, so King’s End will be protected too."
