Blushing, quite predictably, as Remi catches on about the revival of her relationship with Everest - and swatting playfully at his arm for good measure - Isla nevertheless seems very chipper about the whole thing, rumours (that might be true, she'll never tell) and all. "Listen," she chastises, "I was a unicorn for the entirety of the start of your relationship with Ronin. There are many, many things I saw and heard that I have diplomatically opted to forget, so I'd appreciate the same treatment."
Her smile fades at the lingering guilt she senses lurking beneath his humour, but there's little that can be done for fights already finished. "If nothing else, we both know it won't happen again. You'll carry this like it's something personal until you feel like you've made up for it," she says softly. "But you're alright, yeah? By the sounds of it you did still take a battering yourself, even if it's not as profound as you'd have liked it to be."
The conversation only gets more sober from there, though, and Isla lets out a long sigh herself. "Some of us learn to use bravado to hide our fear," she says slowly. "I know it's easy to argue that Flora has lived a privileged life, having you over her shoulders with the abilities you possess, but... she has died before. She knows what it's like, and I doubt she'd so flippantly flirt with doing it again. She'll call, if she needs you." And Isla believes that, rightly or wrongly.
