Melita
they should have checked the ashes
of the women they burned alive
of the women they burned alive
Unlike the last time she’d fought the void, Melita felt a bit…useless. Her arrow didn’t meet its mark, and then everything else confounded into one brutal force. Punching, fire, Ronin (though seeing a little more of him than she would’ve liked), Hadama, all coincided and conformed to a significant bout of damage that found the landshark eventually dead and doomed.
Eyes widening, she gave a low ‘huh’ underneath her breath, and then thereafter, a loud “whoop” as she began to lower the Firecracker back down to the earth. “Hot damn. Nice work!” She shouted to the men, making a mental note to thank both demigods the next time she saw them.
But it was the aftermath that filled her too – because despite her own lack of potency here, the desert was cured and freed.
And there’d be more moments, more chances, on the horizon.
She wasn’t about to leave without some kind of souvenir though, and as she zipped out of her skyboat, she also made a dash for the skin. “Let’s take some of this and head home? I can take one of you back,” she offered with a shrug – figuring she ought to contribute in some way.
