The penny (or the bait, rather) finally drops, though, and Ronin pivots slowly around with narrowed blue eyes and a mixture of disbelief and affectionate annoyance rolling through the link between them. "Shut up, no you aren't," he says to the empty air, prowling back the way he's just come to, yes, sass a harmless will-o-wisp. "And if you are, that's fucking cheating," he announces.
Like the blundering guard outside a low-level dungeon, Ronin walks right into the trap that Remi has set for him, and he swipes playfully at the wisp that dances around the trunk of a certain tree, housing a certain masked fiend.
