Spoiler alert: There isn't.
It's a relief in some ways to be instructed towards the stairs, such that while the Maverick would usually balk against following such an abrupt command, his shock carries him to the top of the steps without complaint. "Alright, here goes," he announces, dropping his pants again - and this time stepping out of them, before promptly yeeting them over the side. They parachute a bit as they drop, he notes, which is suitably dramatic.
