You woke a fire inside of me
The kiln broke open in a cloud of red dust and swirling ashes. After a bit of rummaging they found the crucible, and carried it over to the riverside. Maea was visibly excited as she dug into the content with her bare hands, and a wide smile split her face as she pulled out a small lump of raw glass. Dusty and opaque, it was grayish white in color, looking every bit like the slag left behind by blacksmiths during their work. Barely enough to even craft with, she was nevertheless thrilled to find her experiment successful.
"It really worked! Look, I made glass ‐ " and she held up the piece so Noah could see it properly. "I wanted a new hobby and now I'm doing it. Feels like progress, don't you think?" Going from inspiration to research into action without getting stuck or giving up - yes indeed, it was something to celebrate.
"Would you like to join me for dinner later? This calls for a feast!" All that was left to do here was clean up, then head back to the village. Maea wouldn't mind company - and maybe Noah could tell her about Halo.
As he agreed, she carried on with the conversation, unbothered by his taciturn silence; she understood, after all, how difficult it was to get back up when so little remained to be strong for. At least he had his children - and a friend to lean on, for however long he needed it.
