In Jack's defence, it's not actually wishes he's after, and The Dreaming Well makes a fine place to hide a cache of contraband given the penchant of the general populace not to take shit out of it. Regardless, it's probably not a good look for anyone coming across him, one foot braced on the cobblestone lip of the well, a rope in hand to haul something up from the depths.
If only he gave a single solemn fuck.
King's End, he's learning, doesn't let go of Longheat easy, and it's with a combination of water and air manipulation that he keeps the fiery humidity at bay, knuckles white as he finally levers a small crate to the surface. Pausing for a brief rest with it at the side of the wellhouse, he adjusts his sunglasses to peer up into the cloudless sky where he's instructed The Ark to sail in a lazy route overhead.
The next time she passes he can signal her down and they can be on their way. For now, he plucks open the buttons of his shirt to cool himself down, leans into the shade of the wellhouse, and reaches into his pockets for a pack of cigarettes and some matches.
