Very gingerly, carefully, silently, she slid one of the makeshift warriors, painted and drawn on to look like a duck, into his absent pocket while the older lady kept going on about some kind of oil. She looked up quickly, to see if he noticed anything, before placing a second, then a third, beside its brethren.
Then dashed away, back to the drinks line.
