"Oh?" Iskra says with surprise, half for the abrupt intrusion of the old woman (which meant his predicament had unfortunately not gone unnoticed), and half for the apparent miracle work of peanut butter, of all things. The idea draws a grimace on his face though, because the idea of gunky, oily, peanut butter globing into his hair sends a shiver up his spine, as if he'd felt the ghost of a touch beside him. He politely listens though, because attempting to object seems a decision that should only be made if he wants to prolong this conversation or invite other tangents, and lovely as she is, he does not want to be cornered here with her.
His hand doesn't sink all the way into his pocket as he's forced to demonstrate something with his hands for the woman. His casual lean also straightens up as the line, blessedly, starts to move in earnest. After thanking the woman Iskra steps up to order, calling for two burgers and fries. When he fully reaches in his pocket to pay, his fingers brush the abnormal edges and he jerks his hand away like he's been bitten. He presses down on the pocket from the exterior, and sure enough feels some weird shit.
"What?" he asks as he pulls out money and toy soldiers, completely at a loss. The worker has no patience for his games though, and with a gruff reminder Iskra starts and counts out the payment, gathering back the puzzling toys. He turns them over as he waits for the food to be ready, but the one painted with a duck cracks the confusion into a twinkling grin. "Fucking Mel," he sighs affectionately.
