You can’t stop the change,
any more than you can stop the suns from setting.
Fantastic.
Zavien wanted to have a conversation with whoever thought it'd be hilarious to pair the Dragoon with the dragon. He paled a little when his name was called alongside THE Ronin's, a nervous laugh breaking through despite the smile still lingering from Lena's kiss. He'd met the man, sparred with him, liked him, but that didn't mean he thought he had any chance at staying on during their time in the ring.
He gave Lena a kiss on the cheek as he stepped forward, whispering playfully in her ear, "Well, at least it will be a good show." And because of the absurdity of it all, the laughter stayed light on his lips as he made his way forward.
When he made it to the demigod's side, he gave another disbelieving shake of his head, offering a sheepish grin. "I apologize in advance for how awkward this is going to be." Zavien reached out a hand to shake, completely understanding that he was about to wind up face-first in the dirt and not caring (too much). "Still, let's have some fun."
Only once Ronin was shifted and the Dragoon was firmly on his back did he let out the deep, chest-clenching breath he'd been holding, ready to hold on for dear life.
