You can’t stop the change,
any more than you can stop the suns from setting.
If people thought him getting on the dragon was ungraceful, him getting thrown off is a thousand times worse.

Apparently, he hadn't needed Ronin to take to the skies, he was more than capable on his own. All flailing limbs and swirling dust, he makes it a few feet away before the ground unceremoniously slaps him in the face, his body finally listening to the self-preservation instincts to tuck as he rolls in a cloud of dust and muffled grunts. When he skids to a stop, he does his best to ignore whatever lovely reactions the crowd has for his performance.

While Ronin basks in the glory of his landslide of a victory, Zavien takes a moment to flop onto his back, lifting up a single thumb so people might know he's not dead. A small cough rips from his lungs and he winces at the multiple aches that shout at him, at least relieved that none of them appear serious enough to require attention. He's able to sit up as the demigod approaches, flashing a good-natured grin.

There's a pale flush to his cheeks and a small scrape on his forehead as he runs a hand against the back of his neck. He chuckles, accepting the offered hand to rise from the ground. "I'm good. Just some bruises." Including to what little pride he has. It's not like he was expecting to do well, but he hadn't really been expecting to get thrown off within the first few milliseconds.

His hands work down his jeans in a pathetic attempt to remove some of the dust, but he gives up pretty quick, instead reaching for the hat that had landed only a few feet away. Holding it in his hands, his smile widens, laughter coming easy. "Well, I think that's enough fun for me today. Thanks for not dropping me from the sky. Hopefully people got a good laugh." Zavien gives Ronin a wink, joining him as they leave the ring for the next event.
