"That bein' said," he continues, fussing with some grapefruit soda and lime, "it's always wise to stay on their mother's good side. So here I am."

Setting the paloma down with a pinch of salt and a wedge of grapefruit for garnish, he leans on the bar. "Lazarus is sad that his kitchen porter disappeared, but otherwise fine."
