'Not used to being on the road,' was a bit of an understatement. The only travel Noe had done thus far had been to populated, civilized areas - with proper inns, and roads that didn't shift and change, and markets and restaurants and shops. And while yeah, the Greatwood technically had some of those things, it was far from what Noe would consider to be city-girl friendly.

Of Maea's advice, Noe nodded. "Thanks," she said. "He'd probably be thrilled to help." Maybe he could teach her to use a fishing line, while he was at it. Honestly, Noe couldn't think of a time she'd gone fishing, even with all the time she'd spent in Torchline.

At least talking about Maea's tail was less awkward than it might have been, the Ancient taking Noe's query in stride. Wincing in playful understanding, the girl reached up to move a branch out of her way, the bark biting into her fingertips. She supposed that building up callouses would be on her list of things to do, if she was going to continue traveling. "Gods, that sounds rough. I can't even imagine."
