"There’s someone important to me in Torchline," he says at last, tone warming a bit, as if that’s all the explanation needed. "So it’s...better because of that." He pauses. Then adds, "I did some studying in King’s End a few years ago, but I stayed mostly at the House of Midnight and didn't do much exploring."
As for the note about meditation being for a problem, Everest nods again, slowly, not pushing for more. When Kaisel scribbles the rest and offers it over, Ever’s head tilts. "'Too quiet otherwise,’" he echoes, eyes flicking back up to the other man with a small trace of confusion. "But if we’re meditating...isn’t quiet the goal?"
