Still, eventually Flora is a few inches taller but just as graceful, and Jack sinks back to peer up at her for a moment, his cloak pooled around him like liquid darkness. "If Bassian does find out," he says, smirking and getting himself back on his feet, "we both know it won't be from me."

Jack doesn't say it, but the look on his face, even masked, is all too telling - he's already envisioning the hushed conversations between Flora and her besties. "Is this the part where you gotta walk outta the woods thirty seconds before me?"
