DEIMOS
The sound of iron shots is stuck in my head
The thunder of the drums dictates

Zuriel gave a huff towards Iskra; difficult to determine if she was satisfied with his gratitude, or simply felt it was too little too late. Deimos didn’t bother discerning the mare’s commonly irritated mood – instead, nodding at the Abandoned’s assent, and listening to their decision. His gaze lingered upon the chosen path in the end, before sending another signal to Belial. “Fine by me.” The peryton screeched, and dipped lower, and the rest could proceed onward, towards the larger barrows.
The route was remarkably similar to the ones they’d already threaded their way through – family names pressed into stone, statue, or mound, some left unattended and sinking, others clearly visited frequently by the amount of flowers displayed. Only when they stumbled upon another smaller path, and the enormous barrows ahead, did he hear something in the distance.
A rumbling.
Within the next moment his companion signaled. Rather than granting an obnoxious yelp though, the carnivorous deer lowered himself – wings out in caution. If Belial seemed bothered, then they’d likely found their dragon. “Something is behind there,” he motioned with his jaw, so that they too could see the peryton’s outreach. “I can put a shield up again and we can move with it,” unless they had better ideas.

The rhythm of the falls, the number of dead
The rising of the horns, ahead
