“I’m not sure you’d agree with how I normally dressed while traveling,” I say dryly, though his grin’s too contagious not to mirror. “There was a lot of—layers. And straps. And things that probably came from the lost and found.”
I shift in my seat a little, looking down at myself with a wry sort of expression. “I’m still trying to figure out how to be confident in this… adult body.” Gods, especially the breasts. No one tells you they show up one day like uninvited guests and then never leave. Or that clothes suddenly become complicated.
When he gestures toward my fabric, I follow his gaze. “Uuuh…” I start, very eloquently, before he’s already grabbing pins and waving at me to stand up. I do, carefully handing him the soft, stretchable fabric. It’s light and comfortable, which is really all I’ve ever asked of clothing—and hopefully it’ll contain everything without looking, you know… prudish. I’m not a prude. I'm just woefully inexperienced in all things social.
As he begins wrapping it around my upper half, I hold still, eyes flicking down to try and picture it. “I was thinking the skirt part could be ribbons,” I explain. “Violet and silver, all tatters and trails. Kind of like wind or unraveling threads.”
I glance at him from the corner of my eye, mouth twitching. “Think Ludo would approve?”
