The ancient's return smile was a touch sheepish, the silly kind of happy that couldn't be contained even with the best attempt. She did count herself lucky, to experience that kind of storybook romance, fully aware that reality often turned out messier by far.
"It is," she admitted, and resumed her sewing. "And so far that seems to be the case. At least it feels more solid than my first relationship. That one was all angst and lust and felt very passionate... but it also ended after a season or two."

Like comparing a storm-tossed sea with a sun-warm lake, the men were just as different - making it easy to compare and easy to see why one suited her better than the other. "I do think I wouldn't have been able to appreciate Liam if I hadn't learned from that first disaster though. I guess it depends on the friendship, and what you're looking for?"
It was a question, not so subtly wrapped up and delivered with a glance across the table that invited to share, if Sohalia wanted to unburden herself of whatever caused that wistful expression. She wouldn't pry if she preferred to remain quiet however; given what she was already going through after Tarak's passing, heartbreak wasn't necessarily the best topic.
