Rolling her shoulders to loosen up had a few responding pops going off, whispering of deep seated tension with no place to go. At least the act of moving reduced that faraway look about her; drew her back to the present to think over over Elizabeth's suggestions.
"How about a combination? If you use any means you have to get close enough to tag me, I'll do what I can to stop you. Don't worry about getting burned, I won't aim for you directly." She even slid the robe from her her shoulders and offered it to her friend. "This is enchanted. It will keep your clothes from burning, if you close it over them. Just in case."
There would be no accidents today. No mistakes, no carelessness born from the belief that she could control her powers enough and pay attention enough or react in time to correct mishaps. There was a grim sort of determination about her as Maea created space between them and nodded to show that she was ready, like she suddenly doubted all of her her capabilities and double checked every motion and decision before going through with it. The usual graceful confidence (or haughtiness?) in her motions was nowhere to be found - for the best, in her opinion. Because she shouldn't be trusted, and had lost all faith in her ability to tell what the correct thing to do was at any given moment.
