it feels like we're ready to crack, these days, you and I
"Mm, it's one of the reasons they gave me the role, to be honest," Ronin says with a gentle shrug, unashamed to admit to any leg-up given by his family background. Showbiz is vicious, as anyone will admit, and modesty gets you nowhere. "The Taliesin name doesn't mean much in the mainstream, but for the sort of audience we're going for it'd be a big draw, even though she hasn't lectured in years now."
Remi is right, though, and he certainly hadn't been the type until a few days ago. Beyond knowing a lot of random shit about the paranormal, he'd never really given it any credence. More fool him.
"Well, let's not go that far," Ronin says of packing it in and going home, smiling sheepishly at the other man. "Better to be safe than sorry, right?" He might have had his doubts about salt and iron even twenty-four hours ago, but right now, their presence alone (and let's be honest, Remi's company too) is enough to have him feeling a little more steady.
Trying not to seem to eager as he nods for the burger place, Ronin has evidently forgotten the garden centre and the hagstones and whatever other bullshit he's suggested as he wheels the cart around. "Even if I can't handle it, I'd very much like to try. They don't lie about hospital food being bad, you know. Come on - my treat."

when it's just the two of us, only the two of us, I could die
