Vesper's silence is the thorny sort that suggests a lot of unpleasant decisions being made in the background, and when Jack speaks next it's not without its bitterness, because the suggestion hits very close to home indeed. "Could send her a letter," he mutters. "Somethin' to keep, somethin' to set boundaries." And then they could cut loose for a bit to avoid her ruining the Ark's deck with one of her ponies.
