It's chaos. And what's wrong with that, truly?
If the sled race ever becomes Star Wars lore, let it be known right now that Astaroth did, indeed, shoot first. And what a shot (crit) it was. With Zavien's sled already unstable from his earlier advantage, he stands no chance of dodging anyway, and he'll find himself quite literally blasted out of the race. His sled upends in a blitz of smouldering wood, and he'll go tumbling down the hill like a large abominable snowball.
There's no telling whether or not the commotion behind him is what causes Sunjata's (crit) failure, but as the Flood attempts to freeze the snow beneath him, it works perhaps a little too well. He gains phenomenal speed, just... entirely in the wrong direction. If Deimos looks, he might just spot Jata out of the corner of his eye, disappearing into the distance. Welp.
Meanwhile towards the back of the race, Nova does her best to freeze the snow and sabotage Melita's journey, but whether it's bad luck or they're just moving too quickly, she doesn't quite manage it and remains behind the Honeybee.
As for Thalassa and Maea, it's an exercise in physics. On the one hand, perhaps slow and steady will work in Maea's favour, because she keeps on keeping on. On the other, darting 15ft forward when the sleds are moving faster than that ironically puts Thal in last place. Oops! (Please see Odd for the physics of this, I will not be taking any questions).
Then there'sDamien.
He almost literally FLIES through the other competitors, leaving a spray of snow and ice and magic in his wake, and thanks to a truly spectacular set of rolls some incredible luck, finds himself at the front of the pack!
Zavien and Sunjata are OUT of the drop! The leaderboard now looks like THIS:
