Somewhere behind her Maea could hear the thud of a sled reconnecting with the ground, and a whoop of excitement left her as she realized she was no longer dead last. However it happened, she would not complain, especially not since the person immediately ahead of her proved to be yet another person she didn't want to lose to.
Gripping the sled hard as she could, the pale ancient summoned a spark of fire and attempted to compress the flames behind her back, so that the resulting thrust would push her even faster forward. If it didn't work as intended, at least she might still cause some trouble for Thalassa by melting the snow in her wake. Squinting ahead at Nova's back, her focus remained more on speed than messing with the others, at the end of the day, and the sharp toothed grin on her face spoke volumes of the fun she was getting out of the chase - like the underdog she'd been for most of her life.
Maea uses Scorch to try and jet thrust herself forward faster, and won't be sorry if that messes up the snow for Thalassa.
