Melita probably would never be the best actor for the cause – but she pretended as best she could, her mouth rounding into a little o as if surprised by the elements clambering downwards, reaching out to catch a stray snowflake as portions of the library descended into chaos, confusion, and bewilderment. Some screeched with mighty yelps as her icy additions plunged down the backs of shirts or along necks, and it was difficult to stop that wayward grin from flickering back and forth on her face.
Changing her tactics, she wound the elements into one bountiful mess of ice, rime, and water, letting it soak into the floorboards nearby – it’d be another shock if and when people, in the mass chaos, began to tread and slip or simply get wet socks and shoes (a travesty of its own).
At the compliments, especially while using his own incantations, she whispered back “How do you not do this every day? I’d have way too much fun,” in terrorizing the general public.
