They bolster her mood, a small giggle flowing as another glowing comment about her sparkle settles in her ears. She begins to hope that they might get her closer to victory, but the giggle turns into a sharp squeal as he's lifting her. The motion is awkward and startling enough that she's torn between laughing and clawing out of the fingers digging into her armpits. It turns into an uncomfortable wiggle in his grasp, accompanied by another chiming giggle at the absurdity of it all - especially as she scans the room from her new vantage point.
Then he's pulling her closer - that is, he's moving her face closer to his.
