Vesper groans softly, the sound half-defeat, half-laughter as she taps his nose. The sparkle left behind glints traitorously in the dim light, catching on the faint curve of his smirk. He rolls his eyes, though the motion lacks any real irritation; her delight is too loud, too golden in his mind to bother resisting.
"Alright, alright," he says, lifting his hands in mock surrender, his voice a long, exasperated drawl. "I reeeaaally mean it." The word stretches out, half-mocking, half-conceding, his mouth twitching at the edges as if he knows she’ll doubt him anyway. When he rakes a hand through his hair, glitter scatters down over his shoulders like some cosmic punishment, undoing what little progress he’s made in brushing it away.
"Happy now?" he mutters, but the words melt into quiet amusement as he slips an arm around her shoulders, tugging her in against his side. The warmth between them cuts the winter air better than any coat. "Since I can’t fly yet," he says, tone dropping into a dry warning that he fully intends to learn, "you’re walkin’ back with me." His eyes flick toward the maze’s mouth, the faintest smile tugging at his lips. "C’mon, glitter menace. Let’s get out before this place decides to trap us for good."
