Mist rolls through the coloured stones in ribbons of steam and light, the air thickening in the space between breaths until it tastes faintly of sugar and heat. Then—like the shimmer of a mirage given form—Frey arrives.
They are bare, as always, every inch of them a study in what Kai would most like to see. Rain slides harmlessly off their skin, catching on the curves and planes of their body as though even the storm can’t help but worship. The sudden pulse of arousal that follows their arrival is heavy enough to make the air hum, sweet and electric all at once.
Frey’s grin is pure indulgence as they crouch gracefully beneath the umbrella’s edge, plucking up the pop-rocks with long fingers.
