Vesper doesn’t look away. There’s no heat in his gaze—not yet—just that quiet, simmering tension that moves under the skin when too many words have gone unspoken for too long. His gaze stays steady, pale and sharp beneath the low light, and though he doesn’t want to start anything, the itch beneath his ribs says otherwise. The whole season’s been like this; rain and restraint and the sense that if he doesn’t let something bite, it’ll eat through him instead.
So when Jack tosses the line about letting it get too far, Vesper’s mouth twists into a smirk that’s far too thin to be pleasant. "Well," he drawls, head tilting lazily to the side, "that is somethin’ I believe you’d know about. At least I stopped after a few months." The words land smooth, as if pointing out that Jack had done all of this and worse was somehow something Vesper could take credit for, but the look he gives after carries the faintest glint of apology. He exhales, shaking his head once before finishing the rest of his rum in a single swallow, the burn catching in his throat as though to cauterize the edge of whatever that was.
Dragging a hand up the side of his face, he lets the tension slip out on the exhale. "Ain’t found much I think you’d be interested in," he admits, voice back to something easier, quieter. "Though there’s a Rage Room in the Temple might be worth checkin’ out." His gaze flicks up again, a spark of dry amusement threading through it as he nods toward Jack. "You heard of it?"
