Only no matter how you parse it, the mud just keeps coming, the Captain's jaw feathering as his usual efforts with his magic make little headway.

Swearing under his breath and taking a step or two back as if that will help him to see the problem better, eventually he settles for trying to deal with it at the source. "I can drag away the dirt if you deal with the water?" he suggests, wondering whether separating the elements will help to persuade the mud to fuck all the way off. With that idea planted, he drops his use of water magic and refocuses on earth, trying to corral it into one area away from the businesses.
