He'll consider the failure again and again, edges smoothed over with all the handling, another stone to skip across his fears to see how many ripples it can make.
So quietly, lacking the same energy as before, he joins them alongside the wagon and works to turn flame against the wet cling of memory mud, mindful not to let the heat lick the borders of the wagon and send the entire vehicle up. His focus is on small applications of heat to dry the mud into something that'll flake and crumble, magic winding into the heart of the wriggling beast to consume it into nothing more than dust.
