Noah waited his turn at the kiosk, crossing his arms across his chest as the vendor sorted through the growing collection of painted eggs. The sounds of the festival blurred into a warm, distant hum behind and around him. When the vendor finally beckoned him forward, Noah offered the small eggs from his pocket with a curious lift to his brow.
The prizes were placed into his hands one by one. First, a neatly folded picnic blanket that twitched subtly, but unmistakably. Noah blinked, then huffed a low laugh, brushing a thumb over the fabric as it gave a determined little scoot toward the edge of the counter. Next came a glass jar, which was cool in his palm. A swirl of pale vapor pressed against the inside like a creature eager to be released. Noah’s brows lifted and he gave a thank you to the vendor before heading away with his wares.
He threaded back through the crowd toward Deimos and Erebos. ”Look what I ended up with,” he said, amusement laced through his voice as the blanket wriggled in his arms.
