i could be the reason you can't sleep at night
Flora laughs outright at that, bright and unguarded, tipping her head back against the sun. "Good thing my dads are around then," she says easily, of Kai's potential upcoming death.
Spice, meanwhile, is still conducting her inspection. She leans forward, sniffs with great seriousness, and the moment the Tumsea is wriggled toward her face, she snaps, tiny teeth puncturing the blue fabric before hissing in offence and flitting off Kaisel’s shoulder in a dramatic little flurry. She lands nearby with all the dignity of someone who has absolutely not been insulted by a stuffed animal.
Flora grins at the exchange, eyes warm. "Themed drinks are half the fun," she says, nodding along as if this is the best plan she's ever heard. "Honestly, naming them was one of my favourite parts of owning a bar." She giggles when the plush fin pats her cheek, leaning into it without thinking, her smile soft and utterly smitten. "Theo suits him. He looks like a Theo." And then suddenly her arms are full of turtle.
"—wait—" she laughs while trying and failing to get a proper grip on Teddy, the plush far too large to cooperate. By the time she manages to steady it, Kai is already gone, leaving her blinking after him, half-hidden behind an absurd amount of softness. When he returns, something presses into her hand and she fumbles for it blindly given the mass of blue softness in her arms. "What is it?" she asks, voice muffled, before pivoting and peering over her shoulder, cheek squished into Teddy’s side as she spots the tiny origami dragon.
Her reaction is instant. "Shut up!" she gasps, delighted, laughter bubbling over as she beams down at it while still trying to figure out what was in her hand. On the ground, Spice rises up on her hind legs, claws scrabbling at Kaisel’s shorts, neck craned as she strains to see what new bullshit has entered her domain.
