The world's a little blurry,
or maybe it's my eyes,

They gain altitude quickly, faster than she might have expected from the bulky, air-filled vehicle. The sun catches her face, warming her skin as much as the flames behind her, the ones she occasionally flares when they drift lower. The operator either doesn't notice or knows well enough not to say anything as they continue to ascend, the people below shrinking into specks of color.
Thal props an elbow on the side, content to soak in the expanding sight of the desert while the sound of people and music drowns out in the soft breeze and growing distance. She can see the deep blue water beyond, calling her with its usual melodic tug on her chest like a child snagging at her sleeve, urging her on; but she lets her thoughts drift to nothing more than the rock of the balloon, the sun on her face, and the whisper of wind in her ears.
Once time has passed and her eyes threaten to close, Thal straightens and looks to the man with a mischievous smirk. Hopping onto the side of the woven basket, she flicks her fingers up in a teasing farewell. "See ya." Then she leans back into the open air, free-falling through the sky.
Air streams past, tugging at her hair and clothes as she watches the air balloon grow smaller above her. With arms stretched wide, she closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, relishing in the thrill before releasing the lyvern beneath her skin, twisting just in time for the membranous blue-black wings to catch the breeze and carry her away from the desert.
