Custard might like Donut, but the feeling may not be mutual based on the response from the bay mare, which admittedly might have less to do with Custard's presence and more about his chafing approach between the lady at work and the ward attached to her (Applesauce). Donut's tail swishes in irritated response, head rising with pinned ears, though since Nova isn't trying to stop the situation, Custard happily persists. Jesse's voice lifts, griping back at Nova about controlling her horse, meanwhile his starts to dissolve as Donut's warnings increase. This, in turn, causes Applesauce to grow worried, taking offense to the communication being passed in such close quarters, and as Jesse fights not to get yanked off Donut, his spur catches her side and sends the mare into a bucking fit that tosses him off her back in a blink.
It's only when Jesse shouts that Colt's aware of the chaos, twisting back in the saddle just in time to see Jesse dusting himself off and grabbing for his hat. Applesauce, to her credit, stands stock still and blinks, so Jesse can grab her, but Donut has taken off. Colt urges Biscuit on to catch up with the bay and catch her by the rein to bring her back around to the party. This, of course, also excited Custard.
Meanwhile, Marcus fairs rather well with Taco given the gate situation, though the mare has opinions on everyone stopping to deal with Donut's situation. "Anyone able to heal Jesse?" Colt asks when she trots up to return the runaway steed. Not in too bad of shape, Jesse has scraped his knees through his jeans with his landing, and that's a sore place to have injured so early on. If no one can help him, he can grit and bear it, but he'll be loudly complaining the whole time. "Try to keep your mounts polite," she advises everyone, "we still got miles to go!"
The rest of their venture involves another gate for Taco and Marcus, and Jesse is doing his best to play keep away from Custard, but they make decent distance by the time the sky starts to turn pink and orange for the day. "Camping here!" Colt announces, finding a relatively flat portion of ground. Mikey and Hank begin to unload supplies and set up tents, while Jesse and Colt manage the horses. "Nova, think you can rustle up some fresh food? I saw some blink hare burrows just over thataway." Colt motions towards the east. Though they have food enough, nothing beats some freshly cooked meat.
Continue riding and then help set up camp and settle in for the night.
