Magic bloomed in his palms, a soft golden glow seeping through callused fingers as he pressed them gently near Jesse’s knees. The magic worked like a slow exhale, energy moving from one place to another as Evie had told him years ago. Marcus swallowed, focus narrowing until the world shrank to breath and pulse and light.
When he pulled back, he wiped the back of his hand across his brow to catch his sweat. "Should be a lot less sore," he offered Jesse with a small, apologetic smile. "Still gonna feel it tomorrow, though." He moutned back up, with some difficulty due to his impatient steed, and then kept pace with everyone to camp. Once there, he worked to settle in with the rest of them. Then, once everything was settling in nicely and Nova bounded off in jaguar form, Marcus offered to Jesse: "I can fix that hole in your pants, too."
