This world is a wasteland, nothing can grow
Well, the sled-shield does prove effective in one sense—it gets him past the whirling tornado of elements. Breaking into the eye of the storm grants him only a glimpse of success, a whoop starting to rise in his chest and a consideration of leaping out and tackling Deimos with it, but the moment is short lived. The speed is building, and threading the needle on one side didn't mean he'd paced out for the other. He wobbles for a minute, preparing to dive out of his shield and off to the side.
It all happens rather quickly though—triumph blooming into oh shit and then receding into plans of retreat—and then he's out the other side, unscathed. He glances back just in time to see the lifted curtain Deimos offered. The half-thought of jumping ship coupled with his backwards look all work to unseat his balance, and he does in fact topple free of his shield, the bone skidding further down the ice for a bit after. Grunting to his feet, he trots after it, sighing to himself that he'd probably need to make this item recall too.
"Good show!" he calls out once he's retrieved Gaucho and swings back around to the Sword. "I don't know about you, but I've worked up an appetite now. Wanna get empanadas in town?" A treat, for not dying.

I used to have strength, but I ran out of hope
