Once the door opens and the companions bound through and off toward the corner where Petronella has planned a whole ordeal regarding chasing Fangorn’s bones (a favorite past time of hers), Sunjata imagines the companions will tire themselves out eventually. In the meantime, he smiles toward both Melita and Iskra, closing the door behind them as they slip in. “Good to see you too.” He hums with a lopsided smile. “You guys are welcome anytime.” And he means that, feeling especially drawn toward some kind of family connection right now when he feels a lot of emptiness.
But he doesn’t anticipate on talking about that so soon, instead he drifts toward the table where the food and drinks are laid out, snagging a specific drink for himself made with Remi’s upside down waterfall gin — the only thing that could get him drunk anymore. “Thanks, Mel. I figured I’d save you guys my piss poor attempts at cooking.” He says with a huff of a laugh, pausing to take a sip of his cocktail before answering the question.
“Mm? Oh, yeah. Worked with Frey to make them. They can be whatever you want them to be. You want the top of a treehouse? You got it. Middle of the ocean? Night time?” The sentiment remains and as he thinks about it, he chooses to prove it to them, reimagining the scene outside the window into one that takes place closer to sunset. The sun shifts on the horizon far faster than it would naturally, until the sky is wrapped in hues of oranges and golds with purple and indigo fingers stretching out. It makes the view that much more stunning and perhaps more devastating for the question that Mel asks.
“Yeah, actually.” His nose wrinkles and he downs half the cocktail just to numb himself a little toward it. “She’s back.. But I guess she decided to go to the Draig for.. something. Ended up fighting a dragon that then became her companion, I think? It…” He pauses, puffing out his cheeks in a sigh. “Killed… her. So Frey had her in a pod because of the immortality and I didn’t handle it well.” He can admit that much, turning away from them to pretend to look busy picking something to snack on. “So.. I.. Called off the engagement and moved back here to figure stuff out.” So that’s the story, the update, the news.
