ISLA
"Experience can only come with time," Isla says with a playful wrinkle of her nose. "The important thing is you got there eventually. And you are doing a stellar job." Warmth threads through her words as they leave her lips, the Remedy smiling down into her tea as if she might be able to glimpse the past and all of its issues within. "Neighbours?" she echoes, looking back up at Remi's suggestion, her laughter easy and immediate.
"Much as I think that would be a lot of fun, Ever is an aviator, so if we were to have a houseboat I suspect it would need to be the sort that flies," she says. "...But you're right. I'll bring it up once the baby is here, I think. Right now everything is overwhelming enough just getting ready for her, without thinking about lifting it all and moving it somewhere else." Besides, it's not like their daughter will need oodles of space immediately.
The ellipsis that follows the Bastion's next question is one that brings the colour flushing back to Isla's cheeks, and almost self-consciously she covers her left hand with her right. "It has never come up," she confesses. "Back in Northaven it would have been expected long before we even considered a family, especially for a duchess. But I bucked convention even then." Smirking, she shrugs her shoulders. "So no, we aren't planning on it. But if he asked, I know what my answer would be."
Seeming happy to let the conversation drift back to Remi's expanding family, Isla takes a sip of her tea and nods empathetically. "To be fair, Mateo was only little when Flora and Enzo were born, so I doubt he'd remember. And they're all old enough now to be excited with you." Every one of them adults in their own right. "If anything, you could be asking them for help to prepare. Especially if Mateo can tell you what you're expecting."
